The Safe City Institute, partner of IDB in the process of surveying and reviewing references for structuring the Evidence Bank, launched, in December 2022, a study focused on reviewing worldwide scientific evidence on what works and what doesn't work to reduce police abuse of force, lethality and racism.
The institute's teams structured and carried out an extensive search for impact assessments and systematic reviews of high methodological quality published in Brazil and internationally. They identified 16 types of interventions that have consistent scientific evidence of impact on the main outcome indicators in these areas.
