Description

This is a behavioral, emotional, and social training program carried out in the classroom and taught by teachers. It aims to prevent emotional and behavioral disorders, reduce chronic problematic behaviors, and improve interactions and relationships between teachers and children between the ages of 3 and 5.
The intervention is implemented through three interactive components:
1) Minicourse: teachers are trained in a six-hour course that uses both didactic and interactive learning activities;
2) Teacher’s manual: includes content and instructions for teachers to implement 14 weeks of intervention directly linked to teaching practice;
3) Consulting: a consultant works two hours a week in the classroom with each teacher. The three components include: weekly meeting with the consultant, technical assistance, focused observation involving video recording by the consultant and observation of the teacher’s implementation of the activities, and a reflective feedback session.

Impact evaluations

Impact evaluation studies have shown that children had a statistically significant improvement in social and behavioral competence and in student-teacher relationships. The teachers in the intervention group showed better skills in instructional practices compared to the teachers in the control group [1] [2] [3].
