Description

This is a program for adolescents at risk of violence. It aims to modify adolescents’ implicit or underlying attitudes toward violence through a process of reflective conditioning.
Youth are identified as at-risk after receiving school counseling services for committing an act of violence at school. Through this process, they are trained to associate violent concepts (such as aggression, threats, or disputes) with negative attributes (such as unpleasant, terrible, or failed) and to associate peaceful concepts (such as harmony, caring, or cooperation) with positive attributes (such as valuable, wonderful, or safe).

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation revealed that treated adolescents showed a statistically significant increase in implicit negative attitudes toward violence compared to the control group [1].
