Description

This is a multi-family group intervention program consisting of ten sessions aimed at adolescents who have committed their first offense against the law. The goal is to help parents establish positive influences on adolescent behavior through the development of social skills that contribute to a successful adult life.
The session topics included in the program focus on building a support system within the group, family cooperation, building communication and collaboration links between families and schools, and parenting skills, such as child supervision and communication, use of family agreements, anger management skills, improved decision-making processes, and community service.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that the program produced a drop in recidivism rates, which reached 19.9% among the participants who completed the program, 36.6% among those who did not complete the intervention, and 54.7% among adolescents who did not participate in the intervention [1].
