Description

This is an experimental job readiness program focused on individuals who experience hiring difficulties. The objective is to provide vocational training and reduce unemployment, recidivism, and substance use.
Participants must fall into at least one of the following categories: former convicts, under substance use treatment, school dropouts and/or youth in conflict with the law.
The program is voluntary and offers temporary minimum wage employment to participants in a more supervised and stimulating environment than standard work settings for a duration of 12 months.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation found no statistically significant differences in the number of arrests or time in prison between participants who received the treatment and the control group [1].
