Description

This is a social reintegration program with compulsory participation for medium to high-risk offenders. The aim is to facilitate reintegration into the community and reduce recidivism
The program consists of training prior to release (pre-release) from the prison system and community supervision after leaving prison and returning to the community (reentry).
The pre-release component involves risk and needs assessment, transition and reentry planning and in-prison programming (access to services after release). The post-reentry component involves supervision and access to social assistance services.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation found no statistically significant effect on reducing parole violation rates and the likelihood of recidivism [1].
