Description

This is an early childhood education program designed to develop social and emotional competence in children aged three to eight, as well as to prevent aggressive and antisocial behavior. It aims to improve teachers’ ability to incorporate protective factors into their daily interactions with children, promoting resilience and helping them deal with challenges and risky behaviors.
The program begins by training educators using a 46-lesson curriculum taught by a trained teacher. After being trained, teachers then apply the strategies learned in the classroom through structured activities that are implemented twice a week in 10-15 minute periods.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that the children participating in the program demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in social and emotional competence and positive coping skills, as well as fewer problematic behaviors, compared to the children in the control group, who did not receive the intervention [1].
