This is a program with a multidisciplinary approach that provides care to children and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, and promotes collaboration and communication among professionals working in the investigation and referral of cases. The goal is to detect and treat cases of sexual violence, improving forensic interviewing techniques and mental health interventions, and optimizing the care process with coordinated, objective, and less repetitive strategies.
It includes nine components:
1) Child-receiving institution;
2) Multidisciplinary team;
3) Investigative interview with the child;
4) Medical examination of the children;
5) Mental health services;
6) Legal support and representation;
7) Case review;
8) Case monitoring; and
9) Organizational structure with culturally appropriate practices and policies.
The program is implemented in standalone centers, in prosecution work settings, and in hospitals. In hospitals, it is implemented by nurses, pediatricians, and psychologists.
