Description

This is an educational and cognitive behavioral program for high-risk male aggressors associated with family violence and with court accompaniment. The goal is to decrease family violence by focusing on the impact of violence on victims and children, relationship and communication skills, parenting skills, and behavior change.
It consists of three components: orientation sessions, continuing education sessions, and group sessions for change. Completion of EVOLVE is part of the sentence with mandatory participation. Offenders must complete a 26-week program (consisting of two 2-hour sessions per week), for a total of 52 sessions and 104 hours.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that participants were less likely to be arrested for any crime. However, there were no statistically significant differences between the groups in arrests for family violence [1].
