Description

This is a program for preschool educators to help develop social and emotional competencies and emerging literacy skills in the classroom.
Four specific language and literacy skills are worked on: vocabulary, syntax, phonological awareness and knowledge. And four social and emotional skills: prosocial behavior; emotional understanding; self-control; and social problem-solving skills.
The three basic components of REDI training include an interactive reading program, a set of “sound games”, among other activities.

Impact evaluations

Impact evaluation studies have shown that the program led to an improvement in school engagement, educational level, parenting practices, relational, emotional and social skills, and a reduction in aggression [1].
The study had a sample of 200 four-year-old children. Of the total sample, 95 were assigned to the treatment group and 105 to the comparison group. The average age was 4.45 years, and 56% were boys [1].
