Description

This is a crime prevention strategy at bus stops aimed at reducing the incidence of crime in areas with high crime rates.
The intervention is executed by teams of two uniformed police officers, who are instructed to maintain the visibility of their patrol in designated areas and to intervene in infractions and criminal behavior. The officers travel by bus and have maps with strict schedules to guide their activities and coordinate their presence at bus stops at critical times with the arrival of public transport. The intervention is carried out five times a week, three times a shift, for 6 months.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation found no statistically significant difference relative to the control bus stops. The program also had an opposite effect on crime victim reporting, which increased at the treatment bus stops compared to their control counterparts. This finding was statistically significant [1].
