This is a community mentoring program for low-income youth of African descent and/or immigrants, ages 14 to 24. The objective is to offer assistance, counseling, and accompaniment to prevent antisocial and risky behaviors, and to improve academic performance, employability, and social skills.
Participants must present risk factors in the areas of education, housing stability, psychoactive substance use, mental health problems, or involvement with the judicial system.
Participants are accompanied by promoters designated through a compatibility analysis, and their role is to refer youth to the internal or external assistance services they need, monitor all programs in place, evaluate progress during the intervention, and establish contact with the referral network (family, school, correctional officers).
Intervention is also offered to support studies, job search, and enforcement of judicial measures, and requires meetings between the youth and the promoter at least twice a month.
