This July, the "Evidence-Based Public Safety Manual" was launched in Brazil. The book materializes the result of 7 years of research and presents, in a didactic way, the best scientific evidence from Brazil and the world on what works and what does not work to reduce violence, considering concepts, evidence and concrete cases. The publication covers a total of 170 violence reduction programs in the following areas: Family Programs; School Programs; Community Programs; Urban Planning Programs; Police Programs; Justice and Criminal Recidivism Programs; Programs for the Prevention of Violence against Women; and Programs against Racism.
The book is authored by Alberto Kopittke, who is executive director of the Instituto Cidade Segura, as well as an associate consultant to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and a member of the Security and Justice Evidence Platform team.
It is available only in Portuguese, and can be purchased through the web site https://www.segurancaeevidencias.com.br/,
