Description

This is a motivational interviewing program for adolescents from 12 to 18 years old at risk for substance use. The objective is to encourage behavioral changes and reduce the consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
The program consists of a session between the facilitator and the adolescent to assess readiness to discontinue or reduce substance use and for orientation purposes on the consequences of abusing alcohol and other drugs in adolescence. If the young person expresses their willingness to change behavior, the facilitator begins a process of planning, goal-setting, and relapse prevention.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation found no statistically significant differences in alcohol or cannabis use; however, there was a statistically significant reduction in the perception of alcohol and cannabis use [1].
