Description

This is a community advocacy program for women who have suffered domestic violence from an intimate partner and who are leaving a shelter service for victim protection. Its objectives are to improve the skills, talents, and strengths that are innate to the victim, and to mobilize the community to respond adequately to the needs for resources, services, and opportunities for this population.

Impact evaluations

Impact evaluation studies have shown that participants had a statistically significant increase in access to community resources, engaging in activities to improve their quality of life and reducing revictimization due to domestic violence. However, there were no statistically significant impacts on maintaining attachment or ongoing contact with their perpetrators, nor on perceived social support [1] [2] [3].
