Description

This is a community center aimed at assisting individuals with mental disorders on probation. The goal is to reduce recidivism and the prison population, as well as to promote substance use treatment.
Frequent physical attendance is required so they can be monitored and participate in rehabilitative activities. Participants receive weekly schedules and a permanence plan with an average of 180 days of attendance.
Services offered consist of medication monitoring, professional counseling, housing assistance, substance use assessment and education, social-cognitive skills training, and transportation and crisis management services.

Impact evaluations

An impact assessment showed that the program led to a 37% reduction in the risk of conviction for any offense. However, there was no statistically significant effect on the risk of conviction for a serious crime [1].
