Modified Therapeutic Community for Social Reinsertion
Description

This is a community monitoring program for people released from the prison system who have been diagnosed with mental disorders and/or psychoactive substance use.
It aims to promote the independence of those individuals through reinsertion into the job market, medication monitoring, recovery from substance use (Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous), monitoring in a therapeutic community (including psychoeducational group, counseling, and emotional and behavioral training), and the Criminal Justice system.
The service is carried out for six months, with a frequency of three to seven days a week, and the workload consists of three to five hours a day.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that, after one year of follow-up, program participants had experienced a statistically significant reduction in drug abuse: 75% of participants did not use illegal drugs, compared to 56% of participants in the control group, who did not receive the intervention [1].
