Description

This is an action developed by the drug court for the monitoring of adults facing drug-related problems for the first time.
The intervention offers monthly meetings with the referral counselor, group counseling sessions, acupuncture treatments, and urine tests at least once a week.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation revealed that program participants had, over a two-year follow-up period, statistically significant reductions in overall recidivism rates (61%), new convictions (57%), felony arrests (64%), drug-related offenses (72%), and parole violations (80%) [1].
The study had a quasi-experimental design with 300 people in the treatment group and 150 in the control group. In both groups, 72% were male and 20% were nonwhite, with an average age of 33 years [1].
