Description

Family-centered, community-based program that employs comprehensive services and case management for the care of adolescents involved with crime and substance use, as well as their families.
The program operates in five areas:
1) Family- and neighborhood-centered supervision;
2) Drug and alcohol dependency treatment services;
3) Support services;
4) Gender-specific services; and
5) Neighborhood improvement.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation found that the program resulted in a statistically significant reduction in the rates of adolescents being removed from their families and entering child and juvenile protective services (institutional or other families). No effect on recidivism rates was observed [1].
