Description

This is a social reintegration program for incarcerated individuals with serious mental disorders.
Four months into their sentence, inmates undergo a mental health assessment, followed by the drawing up of a plan to access social services in their community of origin, according to their needs.
After returning to the community, inmates are monitored for five years, which includes mental health and drug abuse treatment, home care, medical care, and vocational training.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that after four years out of prison, program participants had significantly lower rates of violent crime and overall recidivism compared to the control group [1].
