Description

This is a multi-agency program involving local, state-level, and federal law enforcement officials, along with representatives from correctional probation facilities, focusing on firearm felonies.
The program includes five components: partnership, strategic problem-solving plan, training, outreach, and accountability.
Arrests were reviewed by senior members of the (legal) team to determine priorities, and information on gangs and areas with firearms activity was shared with the rest of the team.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that the districts that participated in the intervention had a reduction of 1.4 victimizations per week compared to the pre-intervention period. During the post-intervention period, shootings increased again, but not to the pre-intervention level [1].
The results suggest that selective law enforcement for the most dangerous armed offenders and the task force approach may lead to a modest decline in shooting victimization. However, the best effects occurred when the project was most active [1].
