Description

This is a program aimed at reducing drug trafficking in rented residences by promoting better property management practices.
It articulates inspection actions to pressure landlords to address problems associated with drug trafficking in their tenants’ residences. Actions include different approaches, such as search and seizure warrants, permission for police to search the premises for drugs, purchase of substances by an undercover officer, arrest of the dealer, and probation violation orders.

Impact evaluations

An impact evaluation showed that the program produced a 60% decrease in delinquency, taking into account the properties that received the full intervention (letter from the police department, meeting with the police, enforcement, search and seizure). These results were observed for up to 6 months after the intervention [1].
