Description

This is an intervention to reduce the recurrence of domestic violence, which includes home visits by police officers and domestic violence detectives to ensure that the victim has access to information about the resources and services that will guarantee their rights, as well as to answer any questions about reporting and the judicial process and promote a sense of trust in the police and the judicial system as a whole.

Impact evaluations

An impact assessment found that there was no evidence that police intervention or a faster response contributed to a reduction in the potential for subsequent abuse. Although not definitive, the evidence found suggests that the intervention increased incidents of abuse by 14% [1].
