Description

This is a school program for girls in the fifth year of elementary school. The aim is to prevent school violence, reduce aggressive behavior, and encourage empathy, a prosocial attitude, and problem-solving skills.
The program seeks to develop greater awareness and emotional regulation during conflicts; cognitive understanding of the motivations and consequences of aggressive behavior; and behavioral skills to avoid and resolve social conflicts. Psychology students and professionals with teaching experience in primary education coordinate the groups and use roleplay techniques, debates, games, and collaborative activities as resources. The intervention is implemented weekly with small groups, outside the classroom, and lasts ten weeks.

Impact evaluations

An impact assessment showed that the students demonstrated some statistically significant social problem-solving skills. There was no effect on prosocial behavior or social aggression [1].
