On April 18, the launch of the Security & Justice Evidence-Based Platform was held at IDB headquarters in Washington DC. The event was an opportunity for the IDB team to present the objectives and ambitions of the Platform, as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead. In addition, two keynote presentations and two city cases served to showcase the potential of evidence-based security and justice policies.

The event was attended by:

• Roberto de Michele Head of the IDB's Division of Innovation to Serve the Citizen, 
• Nathalie Alvarado IDB Security and Justice Team Coordinator,

• Lawrence Sherman Scientific Director and Advisor to the board of the London Metropolitan Police.
• General Óscar Naranjo, Former National Director of the Colombian Police and former Vice President of the Republic of Colombia.
• Paula Mascarenhas, Mayor of the City of Pelotas, Brazil, and 
• Pablo Vázquez, Undersecretary of Citizen Participation and Crime Prevention of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the Government of Mexico City.
