Hot Spots Policing (Jacksonville, FL)
This is a problem-oriented policing and targeted patrolling program to reduce crime in areas with high crime rates by reorienting police resources based on geographic data.
Problem-oriented policing involves the articulation of police teams to solve tracked community problems, applying situational crime prevention strategies and making arrests and detentions in high-crime locations. Problem-oriented patrolling consists of preventing crime by “saturating” high-crime areas with a strong police presence in long-term patrols.
