The Companhia Integrada de Policiamento de Proximidade (Integrated Proximity Police Organization) was a program implemented in the 6th Military Police Battalion of Rio de Janeiro to complement the Police Pacification Units (“UPPs”, focused on favelas and conflictive communities), with particular emphasis on middle and upper-class neighborhoods. This is a multicomponent treatment program for adolescents with behavioral disorders who are in juvenile justice centers. The intervention follows a hybrid model, combining components of the “Positive Peer Culture” and “Aggression Replacement Training” programs.

This is a program that utilizes the residential therapeutic model to accompany incarcerated individuals during the release phase.
It offers psychotherapy, counselling, and drug abuse treatment in five phases:
1) The first two weeks are dedicated to orientation, assessment, and group therapy;
2) For the next eight weeks, participants carry out occupational activities in the therapeutic community;
3) During phase three, they continue their counseling activities, mentor new participants, and take on additional responsibilities related to work and the community;

This is a responsive intervention for young people between the ages of 13 and 23 who are incarcerated and have behavioral problems. The aim is to reduce aggressive behavior and recidivism.
The program follows the principles of risk, demand, and responsiveness, adapting the intensity of the intervention to the presented level of risk and demand, but with an emphasis on responsiveness.
Two types of responsiveness are considered:
1) Generic, involving change techniques for impulsive behaviors and psychoactive substance use; and

This is a program implemented by police authorities to detect wanted vehicles, such as those reported stolen or missing.
The intervention consists of installing infrared cameras in police cars (although they can also remain in a fixed location, such as a toll plaza).
As civilian cars pass by, the cameras take a photo of the reflective material on the license plates. The images are stored in character recognition software that determines the exact numbers and letters on the license plates.

This is a job reintegration program for incarcerated individuals aimed at increasing their chances of entering the job market after serving their prison sentence.
There are three models for implementing the program:
1) Under the employer model, private sector companies are set up inside prison units, and inmates manufacture products for sale in open markets;
2) Under the customer model, production facilities are provided and managed by the prison units, delivering the goods produced to private companies; and

This is a police strategy focused on maintaining public order based on the broken windows strategy, which prioritizes attention to problems in order to act to improve citizens’ quality of life. The objective is to reduce disorder in the neighborhoods in order to have an impact on reducing crime.

This is a program for the deployment of “first-response police officers,” who are tasked with responding quickly to emergency calls related to domestic violence cases. These officers have the autonomy to decide whether to arrest the suspect immediately and at the scene. The goal is to deter future abuse and prevent retaliation against women who report domestic violence to authorities.

This is a program for the installation of surveillance cameras for license plate recognition in areas dedicated to vehicle parking. The main objective is to prevent and reduce the occurrence of crime in the intervention area. Cameras are installed at the entrances and exits of parking lots, and keep a record of all license plates.

This was an experiment in which police officers in Mexico City participated in a training course based on a procedural justice approach. The training was created to better prepare police officers to deal with the extremely complex, emotionally intense, and dynamic situations that police officers face on a daily basis, through the effective assimilation of the principles of procedural justice.
