Operation Impact

This is a strategy to reduce drug trafficking on the streets, implemented through nighttime and foot patrols. Under the direction of three supervisors, 12 police officers are responsible for each target area. The intervention led to an increase in police presence per area, which was previously covered by only two officers.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Partner Aggression

This is a psychotherapy model to help male aggressors involved in partner violence. The objective is to promote psychological flexibility to reduce aggression, working on low tolerance to emotional problems, low empathy (especially towards the abused partner), and the inability to perceive or identify emotions.
The program consists of 12 weekly sessions, with 2 hours of group work:

Problem-Oriented Policing Approaches in Drug Sales Areas

There are three police interventions aimed at reducing disorder in drug sales points:
1) Increased police presence at drug sales points for observation and investigation of trafficking dynamics, followed by contact with neighborhood residents for crime-fighting collaboration and partnership with local law enforcement for greater proactivity and meaningful results;
2) Participation of specialized problem-solving agents in community meetings, who photograph properties for inspection and contact absent landlords;

Guam Adult Drug Court

This is a redirection program that monitors adults with substance use problems to reduce their involvement in crime.
Program requirements include:
1) Participation in weekly self-help groups;
2) Meetings with case managers and participation in individual and family counseling sessions;
3) Payment of fees;
4) Commitment to community service hours;
5) Submission of random urine tests each week; and
6) Weekly drug court participation.

Minneapolis Center for Victim-Offender Mediation

This is a restorative justice program for adolescent offenders and their victims. The objective is to convene a mediated meeting for those involved to discuss the crime and establish a plan for future compensation.
The program consists of four phases:
1) Intake: each case is assigned to a specific mediator, who has received 25 hours of initial training;
2) Preparation: this is a one-on-one meeting between the mediator and the parties involved, to hear each party’s side of the story;
