This is a group motivational interviewing program for adolescents aged 14 to 18 with first offenses related to the abuse of alcohol and other drugs. The aim is to prevent negative consequences of adolescent substance use, such as unprotected sexual activity, impacts on cognitive development, physical and mental health, and engagement in offending behavior.

Turning Point Multiple DUI Treatment Program

This is an inpatient and aftercare intervention service for adults who have committed drunk-driving offenses. Eligibility criteria for participation in the program were: multiple DUI charges, a minimum 45-day jail sentence, minimal threat to safety, motivation to seek help and willingness to participate in all components of the program, and residency in Hamilton County, Ohio.
The service offers 40 beds, and the treatment includes:
1) Assessment and diagnosis;
2) Treatment planning;
3) Substance abuse training;
4) Individual and group counseling;

Family Foundations

This is a prevention program to improve the quality of co-parenting for couples who are expecting their first child or have a baby from 0 to 2 years old.
The program content covers emotional self-management, conflict management, problem-solving, communication, and mutual support strategies in caregiving and parenting.
It is presented in three main domains: feelings, thoughts, and communication. Parenting strategies include understanding temperament, encouraging children’s self-regulation, and promoting secure attachment.

Cardiff Violence Prevention Programme (CVPP)

This is a violence prevention program that carries out cross-sector work between emergency healthcare services and the police. The objective is to share data on violent incidents registered in the healthcare industry by transmitting information to the police.
The inclusion of emergency services is believed to improve violence prevention, as those services can share anonymous electronic data on the exact location, use of weapons, aggressors, and the day and time an act of violence occurs, information that is not always known to the police.

Women’s Health CoOp (Pretoria, South Africa)

This is a health education and prevention program to reduce risky sexual behaviors, substance use, and victimization of women, including sex workers and drug abusers.
The intervention includes a personalized assessment to identify risky behaviors and plan short- and long-term strategies to minimize those behaviors.
Educational actions address the following topics:
1) HIV information: how to talk to the partner about safer sex practices, including condom negotiation techniques to reduce sexual risk; HIV antibody testing and measures to prevent its spread.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program - Multisite

This is a shelter program for victims of sexual assault that is made available in hospitals and community clinics.
Care is provided by specially trained nurses to offer comprehensive psychological, medical, and forensic services, including counseling, crisis care, emotional support, healthcare, screening for sexually transmitted diseases, antibiotics for sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception, injury detection and treatment, and collection of forensic medical evidence.

Abuse Screening

This is an evaluation instrument for the detection of emotional, physical, and sexual violence against pregnant women. This is a multiple-question questionnaire administered by the physician during the first prenatal consultations. It provides information about those women’s past and present to assess the severity and frequency of the abuse and consequent injuries.

Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation plus Modified Prolonged Exposure (STAIR/MPE)

This is a sequential treatment for victims of chronic violence occurring throughout life or in childhood. The goal is to develop emotional self-regulation and social interaction skills, promote trauma processing, and reduce psychological symptoms and disorders.
The program consists of two phases:
1) Patient-therapist bonding and training in emotional self-regulation and social interaction skills; and
