Young Builders Program (YBP)

This intervention seeks to expand opportunities for socially vulnerable young people, especially in the educational and employment spheres, in addition to stimulating social and emotional skills and strengthening community ties. In total, it covers 340 hours of workshops and practices distributed over four months. It includes training workshops with emphasis on various skills, such as civil construction and electrical installation in buildings.

Supporting Adolescents with Guidance and Employment (SAGE)

This is a multi-component, community-based program to prevent violent behavior among African American adolescents. The objective is to reduce violence rates in at-risk and vulnerable populations.
The program integrated three approaches:
1) Counseling and mentoring focused on the African-American population;
2) Vocational training and job placement; and
3) Extracurricular entrepreneurship training.

Offender Reentry Community Safety Program

This is a social reintegration program for incarcerated individuals with serious mental disorders.
Four months into their sentence, inmates undergo a mental health assessment, followed by the drawing up of a plan to access social services in their community of origin, according to their needs.
After returning to the community, inmates are monitored for five years, which includes mental health and drug abuse treatment, home care, medical care, and vocational training.

This is a program aimed at developing a series of activities to encourage the city’s merchants to incorporate new business practices. The objective was to reduce the excessive consumption of alcohol and the number of fights associated with this consumption in the surroundings of the establishments.

Reducing Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Limits for Motor Vehicle Operations (New Jersey)

This is a piece of legislation that was implemented to regulate the blood alcohol concentration limit allowed for drivers (from 0.10 to 0.08). The objective is to reduce traffic accidents caused by drunkenness.
The law reduces the tolerance to alcohol consumption by drivers and increases the possibility of penalties for the crime and costs of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Value Added Tax (VAT) Refund

This is an unconditional cash transfer program aimed at helping more than 2 million families in poverty that the Colombian government launched in 2020 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Specifically, the initiative refers to the implementation of the “VAT Return” program, aimed at one million families already benefiting from other social assistance programs, such as Familias en Acción.

Viajemos Seguras en el Transporte Público de la Ciudad de México

The Viajemos Seguras en el Transporte Público de la Ciudad de México (Traveling Safely on Mexico City’s Public Transportation System) is a program that provides women-only cars on trains in the metropolitan area of Mexico City.
When there is more traffic and, therefore, greater congestion in the transportation system, the authorities prohibit the presence of men in certain cars, which increases women’s safety.
