Disciplinary Training Camps

Boot Camps are programs for adolescent or adult offenders designed as alternatives to incarceration or non-custodial measures, such as probation. They are modeled on the operating regimen of military boot camps and involve activities such as drills, ceremonies, and physical training. Rigorous daily schedules are followed and may include punishments for misbehavior that often involve physical activities. Programs differ in content and the provision of physical and therapeutic activities, which may include training, substance abuse treatment, and cognitive skills enhancement.

There are two ways of policing drivers under the influence of alcohol: sobriety checkpoints and police patrols.

Police Interview and Interrogation Methods

There are two interrogation methods: information gathering and accusatory. Information gathering is used in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Western Europe, and is characterized by report production, truth-seeking, and active listening. The accusatory approach is used mainly in the United States and Canada, and focuses on accusation, confrontation, psychological manipulation, and rejection of denials.

Specialized Intervention Programs for Sex Offenders

This category includes psychological, psychosocial, or other interventions developed specifically for people convicted of sexual offenses with the goal of preventing recidivism.
These programs are often designed using various modalities and methods, such as psychotherapeutic interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or so-called Circles of Support and Accountability (COSA), which offer assistance and monitoring of sexual offenders in the community, as well as cognitive behavioral interventions to reduce the likelihood of recidivism of sexual assault behaviors.

Case Management

Case Management is an approach that revolves around the “client” (inmates and those supervised in a community setting) to improve the coordination and continuity of service delivery resulting from the risk and needs assessment, especially for individuals with substance use disorders and multiple and complex support needs.
Case Management involves the regular accompaniment of individuals, which helps them identify needed services, facilitates articulation with services, and promotes participation in rehabilitation services and activities.
